Composting
Food Scrap Composting
Up to 90% of waste thrown out by supermarkets and restaurants is food scraps. In fact, food scraps are the third largest segment of the waste stream in the United States. Thus, composting is a great way for restaurants and grocers to not only reduce their impact on the environment, but also reduce their waste disposal costs.
Ohio EPA maintains information about food scrap composting at its Food Scraps Recovery Initiative page.
Additionally, the following facilities currently accept food scraps at their composting facilities. If you would like to be added to this list, please contact the ESC.
