February 18, 2016The City of Hilliard provides community summer garden plots to anyone interested, with fees ranging from $30-$70 depending on the size of the plot. The three available locations include 1) behind the Phyllis A. Ernst Senior Center in the Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park, 2) near the water tower at the Estates at Hoffman Farms, and 3) in front of the Tharp Middle School (off Leap Road south of Davidson Road).    Registration is now open, and plot fees are due in full before the garden season begins. The city will plow, stake and layout garden plots in early spring, and preference for plots will be first-come first-served after plot fees are paid.
During the growing season water will provided by the city, but each gardener is responsible for providing their own tools. In addition, illegal plants are not permitted, pesticides can only be applied to your own plot, and application of herbicides (weed killers) is prohibited. After harvest season, each plot must be cleaned-up.
Additional information can be found at the City of Hilliard’s web site for Hilliard community gardens.
