March 18, 2016Hilliard is set to host a collection drive for Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore program. The program accepts a wide variety of new or gently used remodeling materials, from door handles to appliances, electronics, and lumber.
To participate, please bring items to Hilliard’s Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 23 from 10-12 at the Hilliard Community Center (3800 Veterans Memorial Dr., Hilliard, OH 43026).
All items must be reusable, structurally sound and complete, functional, cosmetically appealing, and sellable.
Acceptable donations include:
- Appliances
- Cabinets
- Countertops
- Doors
- Electronics (both electrical supplies and consumer electronics)
- Exercise equipment
- Exterior materials
- Fixtures (faucets, switch plates, etc.)
- Flooring
- Furniture
- Hardware
- Housewares
- Landscaping (bricks, stones, fencing, plants)
- Lighting (no florescent)
- Lumber (no nails, not painted)
- Sinks
- Tools
- Wall covering
- Windows
Items that CANNOT be accepted include:
- Any item creating a safety hazard (e.g., has nails sticking out)
- Florescent lighting
- Used toilets
- Items that are broken, excessively dirty, or in poor condition
- Anything containing mercury
- Porcelain drop-in sinks
- Used shower doors
- Non-white and dated colored bathtubs and Jacuzzis
- Cultured marble sink tops missing the cabinet below
- Laminate flooring that has been manufactured in China
- Commercial office desks
- Used paint or any chemicals
- Mattresses, box springs, or bedding
- Unframed mirrors
