Thanks to a partnership with the Franklin County Fairgrounds and Franklin County 4-H Council Walk & Serve, the Environmental Sustainability Commission (Go Green Hilliard) is celebrating Earth Day early for bigger, better, more impactful results on the Franklin County Fairgrounds in 2025!

Thank you to everyone for a fantastic 2025 Earth Day Celebration. 380 cars dropped off Styrofoam, household goods, clothing, electronics, and paper to be shredded. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Activity Schedule

Please welcome once again our partners the Franklin County Fairgrounds, the Franklin County 4-H Council (4-H), Keep Hilliard Beautiful (KHB), RenTek Electronics, BlackOps Destruction, Volunteers of America, The Compost Exchange, and Electrify Ohio! for a wonderful day of walking, service, recycling, and building a sustainable community!
8:30-9:15 Franklin County 4-H Clover Run/Walk

Join the Franklin County 4-H Council for the 4-H Clover 5K at the Franklin County Fairgrounds on April 12, 2025. Sign up with your friends and family and have a fun time running/walking for a purpose by supporting the Franklin County 4-H programs as well as area non-profit organizations!

9:30-12:00 Franklin County 4-H Walk & Serve
Visit over 10 different non-profit organizations! They each have ample space to complete a project that has been prepared specifically for their mission in mind.

10:00-1:00 Recycling Drive: Electronics

RenTek Electronics will collect computers and peripherals, office and telecom equipment, mobile devices, data center equipment, and home entertainment for recycling

Note: some items such as televisions may require a disposal fee.

CASH ONLY

  • Flat Screen TVs: $10 flat fee
  • CRT Monitors: $30
  • Printers/Scanners: $3
  • Older Tube TVs: $3 per diagonal inch

Please do not bring hazardous materials, items with Freon, smoke detectors, alkaline batteries, or small household appliances.

10:00-1:00 Recycling Drive: Styrofoam

The City of Hilliard will collect Styrofoam packaging for recycling in our city's densifier. Please remove any tape or labels from Styrofoam before dropping it off. Styrofoam must be clean.

Note: no food Sytrofoam packaging, peanuts or extruded or "soft" Styrofoam accepted.

10:00-1:00 Recycling Drive: Paper Shredding

Black Ops Destruction will collect office papers only for shredding in this drive. Newspapers, magazines, and cardboard should be placed in your recycle container for weekly curbside pickup.

Each car may only have 3 “banker boxes” to unload. A banker box is roughly 16”L by 12”W by 10.5”H.

Each resident will be responsible for taking their empty boxes back with them. We will be checking the boxes for foreign material and will reject boxes if there is contamination.

This event will be limited to 13,000 pounds of shredding. Once truck capacity is reached, the event will end.

Volunteers of America will collect gently used clothing and household items.

10:00-1:00 Go Green Hilliard Earth Day Booths

On your way walking to or from the 4-H Walk & Serve, stop by the booths hosted by Go Green Hilliard this year! Pick up some stickers and swag and talk to members of Go Green Hilliard.

Go Green Hilliard and Keep Hilliard Beautiful will be there to discuss opportunities to contribute to Hilliard's environment.

Electrify Central Ohio will be there to talk to you about ways to reduce the carbon footprint of your home.

The Compost Exchange will join us to discuss options for composting at home.

Hazardous Items and Paint

Please note that we are NOT able to collect hazardous household waste or items such as paint. Please click the link to the left for information on how to dispose of or recycle these items.
