Governor DeWine’s Budget Proposal Includes Creation of H2Ohio Fund
March 19, 2019Celebrate Earth Day with Us!
April 22, 2019Come see the Hilliard Environmental Sustainability Commission’s table at this Saturday’s Bunny Hop!
While you’re there, bring us your empty candy wrappers! Just as we did at the Halloween Haunt, we will again be collecting your candy wrappers for recycling this Saturday.
We’ll also be displaying some naturally-dyed Easter eggs. If you’d like to follow suit, we tried this website: https://www.kitchentreaty.com/easter-eggs/. (One suggestion: dye your eggs right before you plan to display them. These naturally dyed eggs tend to fade within a few days.)
One cool thing we learned in the process is that the dye made from red cabbage actually turns eggs a light blue color. The red cabbage dye and the turmeric dye (turns egg yellow) take a while—allot for 45 minutes or so to get the color you are looking for. The dye made from beets doesn’t take so long: you only need 5-10 minutes to turn them red.
