Weekly Curbside Pickup with SWACO

LOCAL WASTE SERVICES, RUMPKE and SWACO provide recycling and trash pickup, processing, and management for Hilliard residents.

Local Waste Services picks up trash and recycling curbside every Tuesday.

Rumpke Waste & Recycling sorts and processes Hilliard's recycling at a state-of-the-art facility. The material is then sent to regional manufacturers to be made into new products.

Click here for an updated list of acceptable items to include in your weekly recycling bin for pickup.

SWACO provides education about recycling and waste processing. SWACO also manages the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill that holds Hilliard's waste.

SWACO’s Recycle Right tool is a treasure trove of recycling information in Franklin County, and more details about many of the tips and resources below can be found at RecycleRight.org as an overview.

Hilliard's own Styrofoam and composting recycling centers are open 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.

You can drop off clean, non-food Styrofoam packaging at Hilliard's Styrofoam shack, located next to the densifier shed  across from the Municipal Building. Thanks to our new densifier, we can now accept packing peanuts and softer Styrofoam wrap.

Composting bins are located between the Municipal Administration Building and the Little League Fields.

Plastic Grocery Bags

Kroger, Giant Eagle, and Meijer

It’s important that the plastic bag be thin and soft, about the consistency of a plastic grocery bag. If it crinkles, it will not be able to be recycled through these programs.
