Retention Pond Maintenance — South Pond Update

A few months ago, we published this story about retention pond maintenance at the Carrington Ponds adjacent to Britton Parkway. We reported that the City of Hilliard’s Public Service Department was using the onsite sediment removal/dewatering method to remove accumulated sediment without first draining the north pond.

Based on the success at the north pond, approximately 50% of the sediment was removed from the larger south pond this past month and the geotextile bags are currently dewatering onsite.  The containers should be removed in the next few weeks, and the remaining pond sediment will be removed in the spring followed by site restoration and seeding. Thus, this project is another example that the City of Hilliard is working hard to become a model community for sustainable practices.
